Details	Models such as OpenAI’s Whisper are increasingly used for L1 speech transcription, but L2 English learners’ speech remains challenging for ASR due to pronunciation errors, disfluencies, and non-canonical grammar. The presenter analysed 100 classroom L2 samples, finding that ASR accuracy is approaching expert transcription but still struggles in certain areas, and highlighted best practices for recording and cleaning transcripts when using ASR to process L2 presentations and discussions.
