Details	Previous research has shown that reading speed improves through 20 speed reading sessions. While traditionally printed materials were used, it is now possible to supplement or replace reading with electronic devices. This study compared the effects of speed reading on paper versus mobile devices. Sixty-eight students at a private Japanese university participated, divided into groups using the ESL Speed Readings app and groups using paper, reading for six weeks each. Results and their implications are discussed.
