| Details | While specialized terminology lists exist for fields such as medicine (Lei & Liu, 2016) and engineering (Hsu, 2011), research on specialized terminology in agriculture is lacking (Martínez et al., 2009). This study investigated the composition, size, and density of technical vocabulary used in agriculture textbooks. Building on previous research (Chung & Nation, 2004), three raters classified vocabulary into four categories: general words, words somewhat related to the field, closely related words, and field-specific words. The study also investigated multi-word expressions (MWEs) in which technical terms appear and identified important technical phrases. |
