Details	Processing L2 English learners’ speech with ASR is difficult (Wang et al., 2021). A previous study (Brooks & Jordan, 2023) found that automatic transcription had a high error rate. In this study, we examined the effectiveness of using Whisper-generated transcripts for investigating lexical diversity. A comparison of lexical diversity between automatic transcripts and expert transcripts showed that the ASR output was equivalent to the expert transcriptions.
