Details	This study attempts to understand the challenges faced by EAL learners regarding reading comprehension. The research examined 78 learners (54 EAL, 24 First Language English) studying in secondary education at two international schools in Japan. Results showed that both vocabulary knowledge and decoding ability were statistically significant predictors of reading comprehension.
