Details	This presentation provides insights on how advances in corpus creation and word list development (Gardner & Davies, 2014; Lei & Liu, 2016) can be applied in the EAL context. The research goal is to develop a large-scale corpus to provide the EAL community with a series of lemma-based word lists for use in international school contexts. The presentation outlines the procedures involved in creating an EAL corpus and subsequent EAL word list, including text selection and analysis, an overview of part-of-speech tagging procedures, methods for verifying problematic tags, scan noise, proper noun and adjective issues, and methods for identifying high-frequency and academic items.
