Details This study analyzed 200 L2 English recordings (100 presentations and 100 discussions) using Whisper ASR, comparing transcripts to professional versions. Results showed Whisper performed comparably to professionals for single-speaker presentations but had higher error rates for multi-speaker discussions and lower-proficiency speakers. The findings offered practical guidance for implementing ASR tools in L2 research.
