Details	This study examined the relationship between first-year students’ (N = 62) L2 vocabulary size and the lexical profile of their academic writing samples, comparing their L2 vocabulary size with the vocabulary used in their academic writing. The results showed that even students with high VLT scores tended to rely on high-frequency vocabulary, but there was a correlation between the lexical diversity of students’ L1 and L2 compositions.
