Details	This presentation draws on findings from previous research that analyzed the rhetorical structure of 53 essays written by first-year university students in Japan. The presenter explains how these results can be used to design academic writing curricula. In light of current research in the field, the presentation discusses the significance of these findings and illustrates how the data can be applied to academic writing instruction at the university level in Japan.
