Item Religions in Japan (Faculty of Global Engagement and the Faculty of Foreign Studies)
Details In this new course for the Faculty of Global Engagement and the Faculty of Foreign Studies I examined all the Japanese religious traditions, from earliest times to the modern era of Japan: Shinto, Buddhism, Confucianism, Christianity and the New Religions. During the course I also explored topics like Buddhist-Shinto interaction, the relation of religion and State, pilgrimage and popular culture. Every lesson was held with the support of visual materials, like the software Power Point and video. A part of every lesson was dedicated to the reading of significant bibliographic materials. During one lesson of the course I visit with the students Imamiya Shrine and Daitokuji for a fieldwork.
