Item Religions in Japan (Faculty of Global Engagement and the Faculty of Foreign Studies, online)
Details In this new course for the Faculty of Global Engagement and the Faculty of Foreign Studies, I examined all the Japanese religious traditions, from the earliest times to the modern era of Japan: Shinto, Buddhism, Confucianism, Christianity, and the New Religions. During the course, I also explored topics like Buddhist-Shinto interaction, the relation of religion and State, pilgrimage, and popular culture. Every lesson was held with the support of visual materials, like the software PowerPoint and video. A part of every lesson was dedicated to the reading of significant bibliographic materials. Every student of the 125 who participated in the course did or submit a presentation on a topic linked to that handled during the course.
