概要	The city of Kyoto has been experiencing unprecedented change with the tremendous increase in the foreign tourist market. According to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) the number of overseas residents visitors to Japan first exceeded 10 million in only 2013, while in 2018 it topped 30 million visitors. This number increased again in 2019, and is expected to continue into 2020. The transportation and accommodation sectors are only two of the domestic industries that are feeling the strain of this trend. This lecture highlights growing challenges of small businesses and the need to innovate when the business landscape changes. Students involved in the workshop portion of the lecture were encouraged to research, develop, and pitch a business idea in real time. The goal was for participants to think outside the box in order to craft ideas that could result in positive benefits for all stakeholders in the interaction.
