Details	I explained, first, Japan’s overall strategy, that is, the Abenomics as the domestic economic policy, the Japan-US alliance as the political and defense policy, and the TPP as the trade policy, which is now defunct. Japan has had a trade strategy to go for the TPP, first, then to RECEP and FTAAP in the future. The TPP has the US as a member but excludes China. The RCEP does have China and India, but not the US. The FTAAP has all of them. Japan’s strategy was that the TPP with the US was a counterbalancer against China’s rise. Once it is secured, then China should be incorporated in a regional trade pact. Now the TPP in limbo, Japan must reformulate this strategy.
